Nat J. Raggette

Founder, Chairman & CEO

Nat is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Scorpion Oil & Gas, LLC. After closing on Scorpion’s first acquisition in March 2019, Nat has aggressively pursued more deal opportunities and has closed more than twenty asset acquisitions since inception. His vision of creating an “Old School Oil & Gas Company” has led to Scorpion operating nearly 200 oil and natural gas wells today along the Gulf Coast in South Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. In partnership with Parallel Petroleum, Scorpion also owns non-operated working interests in several oil and natural gas wells in the Permian Basin’s Central Basin Platform.

Nat has spent a majority of his 25-plus year professional career focused on Oil & Gas operations, corporate finance, M&A advisory and investments. Throughout his career, he has advised Oil & Gas clients on a wide range of capital market financings (high yield / investment grade debt, converts, preferreds, PIPEs, common equity), loan credit facilities and A&D transactions.

At Scorpion, Nat manages all aspects of corporate strategy, M&A / A&D, due diligence, finance, accounting and human resources.

In previous roles, Nat was Chief Financial Officer and Board Member of Bright Horizon Resources, a Denham Capital-backed private E&P company based in Tulsa, OK. He also spent nearly two decades as an Oil & Gas Investment Banker with large, global banks including RBC Capital Markets, Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs. Prior to graduate school, he worked with KPMG as a Certified Public Accountant covering Oil & Gas clients.

Nat holds a BSM in Accounting, magna cum laude, from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. As an undergraduate, he was a member of Tulane University’s nationally ranked NCAA Division I Baseball Team, where he lettered as a True Freshman.

Nat lives in Sienna, TX with his wife (Charlotte) and son (NJ). He enjoys hunting, fishing, sports and reading when he can find spare time!

Mike Loudermilk

Vice President of Operations

Mike is responsible for all of Scorpion’s operations. He oversees all of Scorpion’s projects with a focus on the safe development and production of oil and gas in Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana.

Mike has spent most of his 30-plus year professional career focused on Oil & Gas operations. He was previously Chief Operating Officer of JBL Energy Partners, LLC, where he managed day-to-day operations in North Texas conventional horizontal development with responsibility over the entire drilling budget along with managing HS&E, land, regulatory, construction, drilling, completion and production phases of projects.

Prior experience includes operational roles with Lime Rock Resources, Lewis Energy Group, Tesco Corporation and Baker Hughes Drilling Completions & Production Group. He also spent time during his professional career working with the American Petroleum Institute (“API”) in Washington D.C.

Mike is a graduate of the Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Petroleum Engineering and the University of Texas at Arlington with an MBA.

Joe Holsen

Vice President of Reservoir Engineering

 

Joe has over 30 years of diversified experience including production, drilling, and reservoir engineering in the oil and gas industry. He has managed large drilling programs and business development activities in many producing areas in the United States including the Appalachian Basin, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Michigan, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas/Louisiana Gulf Coast, and Utah.

Joe has extensive experience in tight sand reservoirs and the application of technology to enhance the development and exploitation of oil and gas reserves. Prior to focusing on his own consulting firm, Mr. Holsen was the Vice President of Reservoir Engineering for Arsenal Resources and served as Engineering Manager for the Miller Energy Company and Executive Vice President of Reservoir and Production Engineering for PetroEdge Energy LLC. Employment history prior to PetroEdge Energy includes experience with a U.S. major and independents.

Joe is a graduate of Marietta College with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Petroleum Engineering and a minor in Mathematics.

Cole Reynolds

Vice President of Geology

Cole is responsible for the subsurface evaluation and development of Scorpion’s asset portfolio.

Cole has nearly 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry in various technical roles as a petroleum geologist. He was previously Partner at Riverstone backed Teton Range, LLC who manage non-operated assets in Oklahoma’s STACK/SCOOP plays of the Anadarko Basin. He was responsible for evaluation and technical expertise for more than 330 non-operated wells and 20,000 net acres under management.

Prior to joining Teton Range, Cole served as VP Geologist for ScotiaWaterous, later Scotiabank in the global investment banking A&D group. He evaluated assets across North and Latin America with extensive experience in the Permian Basin. He has more than $12 billion in transactional experience.

Cole is a graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Geology.

Jonathan Spears

Rig Supervisor

Jon serves as Rig Supervisor for Scorpion Oil & Gas and has more than 20 years of onshore oil and gas operational experience, primarily in the Black Warrior Basin of Mississippi and Alabama.

Prior to joining Scorpion, Jon worked at Thompson Services in Mississippi, where he spent years running drilling, workover and swab rig operations. Jon has drilled and swabbed wells in onshore basins across the United States, having worked for other service companies including Keane, Horizontal Well Driller, Basin Drilling and Armadillo Drilling. Mr. Spears has a long list of professional oil & gas certifications and is adamant about wellsite safety.

At Scorpion, Jon is responsible for running our workover and swab rigs and managing our in-house rig crew. His vast experience with workover and swab rigs allows us to keep our wellbores clean and our volumes flowing. Jon is capable of machining in-house most rig parts that we need and use in the field daily.

Jon is a resident of Detroit, AL and enjoys spending time with his family during his spare time.
